Introduction

As a long-time anime fan, I’ve spent countless hours watching, rewatching, and analyzing different series. While there are many great shows out there, narrowing them down to the top 5 anime of all time was no easy task. Still, after much thought and reflection, I’m excited to share my personal ranking. These are the series that have not only captivated me but have also left a lasting impact on the anime community as a whole.

Top 8 anime of all time

1. Attack on Titan

  • Release Date: 28 September 2013
  • Genre: Dark Fantasy
  • Number of Episodes: 94 Episodes

Topping my list of the top 5 anime of all time is Attack on Titan. From the very first episode, I was hooked by its intense story and breathtaking animation. The series begins with humanity on the brink of extinction, living behind massive walls to protect themselves from the terrifying Titans. The twists and turns of the plot kept me on the edge of my seat, and the characters, especially Eren, Mikasa, and Armn, are deeply developed and relatable. The themes of freedom, sacrifice, and the harsh realities of war are explored in a way that makes Attack on Titan a masterpiece.

2. Naruto

  • Release Date: 3 October 2002
  • Genre: Shonen Manga
  • Number of Episodes: 220

Naruto is an anime that has a special place in my heart and definitely earns its spot in the top 5 anime of all time. Following the journey of Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja with dreams of becoming the strongest in his village, this series is filled with emotional highs and lows. What I love most about Naruto is its focus on themes like perseverance, friendship, and overcoming adversity. The characters grow in such a way that by the end of the series, you feel like you’ve grown with them. The epic battles, iconic jutsus, and heartfelt moments make Naruto a must-watch.

3. One Piece

  • Release Date: 20 October 1999
  • Genre: Shonen Manga
  • Number of Episodes: 1116 Episodes

No list of the top 5 anime of all time would be complete without mentioning One Piece. This long-running series follows Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew as they search for the ultimate treasure, the One Piece. What makes One Piece stand out for me is its rich world-building and the endless adventures that never seem to get old. The story balances humor, action, and emotion in a way that few anime can. Plus, each character in the Straw Hat crew has their own unique backstory, making the series even more engaging.

4. Demon Slayer

  • Release Date: 6 April 2019
  • Genre: Shonen Manga
  • Number of Episodes: 55 Episodes

Demon Slayer is a relatively newer addition to my list of the top 5 anime of all time, but it has quickly become one of my favorites. The story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who becomes a demon slayer after his family is slaughtered by demons. The animation quality in Demon Slayer is some of the best I’ve ever seen, with stunning fight scenes and beautiful landscapes. What really stands out to me, though, is the emotional depth of the characters, particularly Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko. Their bond and determination to protect each other make this series incredibly powerful.

5. Jujutsu Kaisen

  • Release Date: 3 October 2020
  • Genre: Shonen Manga
  • Number of Episodes: 47 Episodes

Another recent anime that has made its way into my top 5 anime of all time is Jujutsu Kaisen. This series follows Yuji Itadori, a high school student who becomes involved in the world of curses after swallowing a cursed object. The show combines elements of horror, action, and supernatural intrigue, making it an exciting watch from start to finish. What I appreciate most about Jujutsu Kaisen is its well-choreographed fight scenes and the way it delves into the darker aspects of human nature. The characters are complex, and the story is unpredictable, which keeps me coming back for more.

Conclusion

Choosing the top 5 anime of all time wasn’t easy, but these are the series that have left the biggest impact on me.
